So you are saying that we should set prices a bussness can charge for there product? You are getting into some muddy water when you go there.
If you tell a company that they can no longer pass alone the cost of doing bussness to the customer they will eaither cut costs elsewhere (worker layoffs, moveing produstion overseas ect) or stop produceing the product that is no longer cost efective to produce
Honistly the Fed Gov does not really care that the bussness raise the cost of there products sine is has the same effect and a National sales tax with none of the public outrage.
Honistly i think the next Prez and Congress will have to raise taxs if they plan on getting a balanced budget and long term that will probably do the country a bigger favor than 10 more stimulis checks

And the first step is to let the tax cuts that Bush handed out expire. And for regulation, coal prices are set by the government- most coal is sold for electricity and the price of the the stuff has to be approved before it can be increased, correct? If it is good for the goose, screw the gander ,too.

You know better than that and I think you know I know better than that........If the Gov were to cut the price that Coal Co.s charge and freeze them we would lose alot of our coal reserves BECOUSE if it will cost more to get out of the ground than they can sell it for then in the ground it will stay.......and No.2 if the price is fixed where will the push for new mines or extra capacity come from.
You have been around long enough to know I am right about this.
I think that the Dems have earned there right to rule over the next few years and who know they may tax the crap out of Companys and freeze prices for all of us and if they do and it is successful I will probably eat my words and switch from Indpendant to Dem however it will not work and they know it will not so there is no way it will happen

Do you or do you not have to have approoval to raise the price of electicity? It comes down in the end to that. Not a complete yes or no, but a reasonable amount. I just wonder why some of the other industries aren't run the same way.

Utilitys are a differant animal LOL and with all the 20 and 30% raises that get approved for them I am not sure that price contole is working all that well
Oh well we will agree to disagree on that one I just do not see eaither party freezing prices after a corpret tax

Oil?
Are we freezing oil now to
All I am saying is #1 coal prices will not be set by the Gov unless the Gov wants to get into the coal mineing bussness #2 Utilities get a butt load of public money so are you wanting to give tax dollares to oil and coal (I thought we were tring to tax them not give them tax money )#3 I think healthcare will be left uresolved to provide re-election fodder (I could be wrong but give the fact that Obama should have a heavy Dem comgress on his side that would be the only reason for it not to happen in his 1st 2 years)
Just start posting links to all the price freezes that the Gov puts in place as they happen

Re: If This Is True...
I don't look for any freezes- the world is falling apart as it is. Bush handed out a boat load of tax dollars to oil companies for- search and development- and in just a couple of years prices went thru the roof, till the theives in the lending industry brought the country down. I just find it funny that the power company has to ask to raise the price and no one else does.
The bottom line in politice is that my signature is good for almost anyone, they all have someone they owe or a rank they came thru and will favor. Obama sounds great, but so does Tony the Tiger...but at least Tony has been selling Frosted Flakes long enough for me to decide which group he is really taking care of. Obama ,I'm just not real confident in. I think before we see any meaningful changes in this country , you might see very close to a violent revloution.
